ALL-CONQUERING Wootton Bassett Under 11's were crowned kings of Wiltshire at the county championships, a feat they acheived without conceding a try all day.

The first match in the pool section was against a combined Swindon and Marlborough team who soon conceded an early try.

Two more followed to make the final score 15-0. Tries were scored by Smith, Norcross and Evans.

In their second game against Cooper Avon Tyres, some free flowing rugby brought four tries, including a hat-trick for Evans and one for Cotterill.

In the meantime, Chippenham also progressed, having seen their opening match against Devizes cancelled due to a no-show.

Corsham were next and Chippenham won 25-0, with scores courtesy of Louis Blackburn (2) Jay Pickering, Ben Parfitt and Anthony Clarke.

Supermarine were made of sterner stuff however, as they went into a 10-0 half-time lead through Jack Durrant and Kit Stoddart.

A stern talking to fired up Chippenham had they hit back with tries for Harry Neal and Blackburn to earn a draw.

Marine lost 10-0 to Corsham, and 15-0 to Salisbury before sharing the spoils 5-5 in an extra game with Corsham, Mark Croucher scoring for the Swindon side.

A 15-0 defeat to Salisbury meant Chippenham were Bassett's opponents in the semi-final was against Chippenham, having finished runners up in their group.

But they were unable to contain Bassett and went down by four tries to nil, all of them scored by Evans, as Bassett progressed to a final meeting with Salisbury.

Chippenham won the third-place play-off against Swindon and Marlborough, Blackburn's hat-trick and one from lock Nick Jacks earning them a 20-0 victory

In the final, hosts and favourites Salisbury put up a physical fight, but Bassett kept their composure to win the title, the only try of the game again scored by Evans.

The squad can now look forward to April 27 when they take on the Dorset champions at Supermarine RFC.
