CHIPPENHAM travel to Salisbury tonight in a bid to finally resolve their much delayed Wiltshire Premier Shield tie.

The semi-final second leg was pencilled in for January but adverse weather conditions resulted in a double postponement.

When the tie did get the all clear two weeks ago the match lasted less than two minutes before Dean Bowden broke a leg, forcing an abandonment.

Bluebirds boss Tommy Saunders has admitted that this year's competition has boarded upon farcical, but he is still desperate to ensure his side claim the Shield to avoid a barren season.

Saunders does have selection problems, with only players who were signed prior to the games original date eligible.

That means on-loan Richard Kear and Ian Herring miss out, along with Liam Bull and Scott Walker.

Mark Badman may return after breaking his nose in an altercation in Bristol on Friday night and Mark Harrington is also pressing for inclusion after recovering from a lengthy lay off.

Wootton Bassett entertain an almost unbeatable Carterton outfit in the Hellenic Premier Division.

The Oxfordshire side have lost just one league game all season, but they have drawn 11 and Bassett boss Pete Yeardley will hope his side can grind out a point against the title hopefuls.

Stuart Lamont, Geoff Swatton and Nick Tooley are all available, but Rich Stevens and Rob Hopkins are still some way off fitness.

In the Screwfix Direct Western League, Devizes will do very well to get anything at title challenging Brislington in the Premier Division.
