I RECENTLY underwent an operation in the new Great Western Hospital and would like to express my thanks, appreciation and praise for the care and facilities available to me.
I was given leaflets explaining exactly what I was having done and the following three days procedure, which gave me focus past the dreaded operation.
I had excellent pre-admission discussion and came away feeling confident, and with most of my fears allayed, by asking what may have seemed ridiculous questions but were worrying me personally. Many thanks, of course, to my consultant surgeon, my anaesthetist and the entire nursing staff.
The new beds have got to be one of the most cost effective and a complete breakthrough in comfort for patients I could possibly have imagined. The fact that each bed is a complete unit from post op to recovery is wonderful. It enables the patient to sit up slowly under their own power, bend their legs and change position to suit your specific comfort at any time, without needing assistance. The mattress was so very comfortable and I slept through every night soundly, something that does not happen at home!
I feel we have become a moaning complaining society as a whole and on behalf of all those who feel as I do I think it is high time we gave thanks for our new hospital and all the hard work which has gone into the planning, building and expenditure which has given the people of Swindon and surrounding area a state of the art hospital for the future.
