PEOPLE in Purton have been urged to take the law into their own hands to tackle dog fouling.
Parish councillor David Sweet is urging residents to report anyone spotted allowing their dog to illegally foul restricted areas such as the High Street.
He said: "Dog fouling is something we've been trying to stamp out in this village for some time.
"I'm very aware that we've got lots of children walking up the High Street to get to school - it is an absolute nightmare. There's only one way for the council to stop this and that's to catch the people who are doing it.
"If residents are prepared to report people to the council dog wardens they will do something about it and an example can be made."
