Popular Churston veteran Mike Osborne has pledged to get his handicap down to single figures again this year.
And to achieve his ambition he has turned to yoga as part of a new fitness regime.
Now 70, he is determined to regain the handicap he boasted for around 30 years. That means knocking three shots off his present handicap of 12.
Although he is realistic enough to realise that he will never get down as low as five the mark he enjoyed for six years he feels fitness is the key.
He said: "I am an enthusiastic swimmer, but wanted to try something else. I have obviously lost length, but I feel I can hold my own with the best in the club if I get fitter."
The former member of Torquay Cricket Club has come to the end of a six week yoga course.
Now, as the new season unfolds, his club colleagues will be noting his progress this year.
