Football: SALISBURY City toppled high-flying Dr Martens Premier Divi-sion outfit Chippen-ham Town on Tuesday night to secure a place in the final of the Wilts Premier Shield, writes Mike Turner.
Second half goals from Adam Wallace and Reza Sotoudeh secured a deserved 2-0 scoreline on the night and a 5-3 aggregate victory which pairs them with Swindon Super-marine in the final.
A scrappy first half, plagued by poor passing, awful finishing and some extraordinary refereeing decisions, was quickly forgotten as the second half produced some top drawer cup tie action.
Whites always looked the side most likely to score, but it wasn't until the 59th minute that they fully took control of the game.
Sotoudeh held the ball up well before his spin and precise touch into the path of Andy Cook resulted in Gary Horgan pulling the City player down as he burst into the box.
Wallace's precise spot kick past ex-Whites 'keeper James Bittner, made amends for a couple of inexcusable close range misses on the night. However, City's top scorer also had a hand in their all-important second goal.
Substitute Tyronne Bowers' pin-point cross was met by Wallace whose shot was cleverly deflected in by Sotoudeh.
