FOOTBALL: HAMBLE ASSC manager Larry Clay described Down-ton as a team in a 'false position,' who are 'not far off being a good side,' after Saturday's 2-0 win at Wick Lane.
Louie Langdown converted a first-half spot kick and Steve Whitcher capitalised on uncertainty in the Robins' defence after the break, condemning the home side to their fourth defeat in a row.
Downton boss Mitch Blake said: "It's pleasing to get a compliment like that, although we didn't play as well as we can do. The first goal was a penalty and the second came from a lack of communication at the back. A draw might have been a fair result but we have to be on our mettle for the 90 minutes."
On Saturday Blake's side visit Christchurch with Russell James and Ben Smith will both be back from suspension.
