IF, as Cllr Scott claims, all the north Wiltshire dominated Cabinet did was confirm the record office bid, then why did the county council send out a press release headed 'Record office bid approved by county council cabinet'? To approve something means to give the go ahead, surely? If the Cabinet had not approved the bid then it would not be able to sell the land to the county council.

Does Cllr Scott not plan and want to be part of the next ruling north Wiltshire district administration come the May elections?

Does she seriously claim that come the next county council elections she and her fellow Cabinet members won't be pointing to the record office project as a benefit that north Wiltshire enjoys as a result of the efforts of the north Wiltshire Tory Cabinet members?

Her view of how county councillors make their decisions seems to be totally at odds with those expressed by north Wiltshire councillors in July 2000.

Then the county council was accused of a 'political stitch-up' and of making 'a party political decision' to locate the facility in Devizes. Perhaps they take a different view of a 'political stitch-up' if it benefits the North Wiltshire District Council?
