Wiltshire police are hoping a new initiative will help them to fight crime and build stronger links with the community.
None of us could disagree that it will be good to have a stronger uniformed presence on our streets, but the Police Federation has questioned the true purpose of Community Support Officers.

Police claim the support officers will compliment existing resources and will not involve cost cutting, but only time will tell.
