AN ELDERLY lady from South Cerney has won star prize in a charity raffle the only drawback being that she cannot drive.
Molly Todd, 93, won the GWR FM mini-Black Thunder Suzuki Jimney four-wheel drive convertible worth £9,000 in a raffle run by Age Concern Swin-don.
A very surprised Mrs Todd described the experience of winning the vehicle as traumatic but added that it was all very exciting.
She said: "When I received the phone call saying that I had won the car, I hung up the phone on them because I thought it was someone playing a joke on me."
"Fortunately they did ring back and apologise about the way they told me, and I couldn't believe it. I have never won anything like this before."
Mrs Todd, who has never driven in her life, now plans to sell the car and split the money between her three children.
She added: "It was all a little bit too exciting for me in one day. It scared the stuffing out of me."
The car was donated by Wroughton-based car dealer Pebley Beach and collected by Mrs Todd from the Pebley Beach dealer in Cirencester.
She added: "It is a lovely car my son and his daughter thought it was wonderful. I think they would like to have it."
Jo Osorio, director of Age Concern Swindon said he was delighted with how well the raffle went.
He said: "We are pleased with the raffle's success, and we hope to have raised about £5,000 for Age Concern. I thank everyone who brought tickets and our sponsors."
Dominic Threlfall, managing director of the Pebley Beach group was delighted that Mrs Todd won the car. He said: "It was a great pleasure to see the car won by such a wonderful lady.
"It is nice to be able to deal with a local charity and we are happy to have lent a hand."
The services run by Age Concern are run exclusively by volunteers.
