BIRTHDAY boy Danny Invincible was among those facing a 'don't stay and you don't play' ultimatum from Andy King today.

The Town striker, 24, has been the subject of intense speculation and the County Ground boss wants to know whether the player intends to sign a new deal.

King was due to talk to all his players today to find out if they wish to stay at the County Ground.

After Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Colchester, King told his players to make their respective positions clear by today.

Those that answer 'no' look to have played their last game for the club.

He said: "I will make everything public by the end of the week.

"Those who don't want to play for Swindon Town will not play anymore.

"That will give those who wish to stay, or want to earn another contract, an opportunity.

"To those who don't want to play next season, we'll say our thank-yous, our goodbyes and let's move on and start again."

This morning's heart-to-heart was a two-way process.

While the likes of Invincible know their services are required, not all the 13 players out of contract will be offered deals by King.

The Town boss said: "I know who's staying and who's going in a sense.

"Well, I know who I wish to stay at this football club. But I can't control the comings and goings of those who feel they have options.

"By having everything out in the open by the end of the week it allows certain players to have an opportunity in the remaining games and to let the club know which way we have to move forward and what we are looking for.

"But there will be no great surprises to be honest."

King has already spoken to youngsters Kevin Halliday and Nathan Edwards and other players waiting to learn their fates include Adam Willis, Gareth Edds and Craig Farr.

Town's reserves take on Cheltenham at the County Ground on Wednesday afternoon in the Avon Insurance Combination. The game kicks off at 2pm.

Malcolm Crosby's men will be looking to bounce back following a 5-0 drubbing at Colchester last week.
