A TEENAGE chef is set to appear on a new reality TV show.
Shaun Dickens, 18, from Wanborough, is one of six young cooks who will be thrown in at the deep end at top London restaurant The Green.
The show - Yes Chef - is being produced by Endemol, which is behind hit shows Big Brother and Ready Steady Cook, and will be broadcast in June on ITV.
It will take Shaun, who works during Saturday lunchtimes at The Harrow Inn in Wanborough, from an idyllic village pub to the heart of a top Caribbean restaurant in Willesden Green.
His boss will be celebrity chef Patrick Williams, who has appeared on his own cable TV series and was head chef at some of London's top restaurants, including I-Thai.
Cameras will follow Shaun's every move as he spends three weeks in The Green's kitchen, with little time to adapt to a brand new style of cooking in a fast paced environment.
But his family have no doubt he will do well.
Mother Dawn, 42, a teacher, said: "I am nervous for him because I just want him to do the best he can and get everything out of it.
"He has been obsessed with cooking since the age of 13, when he started working in the Shepherd's Rest in Wanborough.
"Whatever he cooks has to be perfect. Even if he is just making a baguette he says the person eating it might only eat out once a year so it has to be the best baguette they have ever eaten."
Shaun is no stranger to hard work. Every day he leaves home at 5am to attend Westminster Catering College in London, which is known as the chefs' Oxbridge.
He said: "I am really, really excited. I have heard about The Green and it has got a really, really good reputation.
"Patrick Williams is a hell of a chef and he does keep a tight ship but I want to get involved in everything and see if I can make it in a top restaurant.
"My worst fear is messing up. I don't know much about the style and presentation of Caribbean food, but I am looking forward to finding out."
Shaun says his ambition is to be head chef at a top Michelin starred restaurant within 10 years.
He has one year's study left in his Chef's Diploma course in London and already Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons in Oxford is considering offering him a job.
The show's director, Gillane Seaborne, said: "I'm going to be filming with Shaun for three weeks and I'm as excited about it as he is."
