TRANSFER-LISTED Charlie Griffin gave potential buyers something to think about as Chippenham Town finally stopped the rot.
The up-for-sale striker hit the decisive second as the Bluebirds ended their three-match losing streak with a 2-0 home victory over Cambridge City.
Both goals came in the space of three first-half minutes of a low-key encounter.
Martin Paul had tested City keeper Martin Davies and Gary Horgan fired wide before Chippenham made the breakthrough on 32 minutes when Adie Mings managed to head home a left-wing cross.
Mings turned provider three minutes later as Town effectively wrapped up the three points that would take them back to second in the Premier Division.
The burly frontman utilised as a makeshift left winger rose highest again to flick the ball to Paul, who in turn teed up Griffin who powered the ball low into the corner of the net.
Kevin Wilkins should have pulled one back before the break, but his point-blank header dipped just over James Bittner's bar.
Cambridge threatened after the interval, but never looked capable of bridging the two-goal deficit.
Jack Wignall forced Bittner into a smart stop and Stuart Niven was narrowly off target with a screaming half-volley.
At the other end, Paul's 30 yard lob dipped just wide of goal and Griffin was denied by Davies.
Mark Badman also squandered an ideal opportunity to break his Town duck, firing over when clean through.
But Chippenham cantered to victory and the only low point was the paltry crowd.
Only 445 paying spectators turned out Hardenhuish's poorest Premier Division gate to date.
But a solid victory over in-form Cambridge may prove the incentive for those staying away to return before the season ends.
