WILTSHIRE Over 50s will entertain a Surrey side at Swindon's County Ground ahead of this season's campaign.
The Moonrakers veterans will host Surrey in Swindon on Thursday, May 8, and will then play Wales at Trowbridge the following week, Thursday, May 15.
Wiltshire's ECB League fixtures: v Dorset at Dean Park, Bournemouth, Thursday, May 22; v Channel Isles, Jersey, Saturday, June 14; v Isle of Wight at South Wilts, Salisbury, Wednesday, June 25; v Somerset at Claverham, Sunday, June 29; v Devon at Trowbridg, Thursday, July 3; v Cornwall at Warminster, Wednesday, July 9; v Hampshire at Wootton Bassett, Wednesday, July 18. All matches to start at 2pm.
The over 50s' annual meeting took place recently with Peter Hagelthorn being appointed captain for the 2003 season.
Colin Webb (Warminster) is vice-captain for the season, while other officers elected were Steve Steir (Trowbridge) as president, Dick Moulding of South Newton as chairman, Gwyn Blenkinsop (Farley) as secretary and Malmesbury's John Williams being appointed treasurer.
Considerable debate took place on the need to recruit new players.
And in emphasising this, Hagelthorn stated that any cricketer wishing to continue playing after the age of 50, having enjoyed club cricket, should make himself available.
All new players will be given the opportunity to play and anyone interested should contact Hagelthorn on 01380 818381.
