SWINDON superstar Melinda Messenger's new talk show has had its first airing.
And customers at one of her favourite Old Town pubs were impressed.
Mackenzies in Wood Street showed Loose Lips, Melinda's show on the Living TV cable channel, on two giant screens.
Although many people preferred the beer garden for the spring sunshine, a handful remained inside to see the show.
Featuring guests such as pop star Kerry McFadden and items on women's football and Botox injections, the show is billed as catering for most tastes in a light-hearted way.
Melinda and co-host Richard Arnold had a shared dig at a national newspaper, which had described the show as "low grade froth" for people who found Des O'Connor's new afternoon show too intellectually taxing.
However, Mackenzies' customer Adrian Short, 46, a picture framer from Park South, was impressed.
He said of the former model who lives in Wanborough: "I think she's a quite tremendous character, and also a good representation of our people in Swindon.
"She speaks in a positive way for things here, and she is quite a good looking girl. She also did very well in the Celebrity Big Brother house."
Fellow customer Jim Wiggin, 45, a telecommunications company director, said: "The programme is the sort of thing that would appeal to a lot of people.
"It is always nice to see somebody local on the television."
Mackenzies general manager Paul Alexander, 25, said the star was no stranger to the venue.
He explained: "I've been manager here for two-and-half years and have seen her quite a few times.
In an interview given before yesterday's broadcast, Melinda spoke of her excitement at her new show and her joy at being mother to Morgan and Flynn.
Melinda's father Terry Messenger said: "Melinda is quite excited about taking this new series on, but quite nervous too.
"I will tell her what I think of the show when I see it, I watch with a critical eye and if something looks wrong or uncomfortable I'll say so.
"I can't imagine she will take any notice of me though!"
She is still celebrating recently winning the Celebrity Mum of the Year award.
