FAST-IMPROVING Blewbury secured a dramatic 2-1 win to put Saxton Rovers' Division One title charge on hold. Although they went a goal behind they frustrated Saxton, with keeper Matthew Sewell making several fine saves, then Johnny Pearce and Andy Smith struck to claim the points.
Best placed challengers Lambourn Sports failed to put much of a dent in Rover's lead however, as they were held to a 1-1 draw at East Hendred. Sutton Courtenay picked up a useful point at neighbours Drayton with Jimmy Mills scoring for Sutton in reply to Greg Lester's strike for Drayton.
In Division Two, Grove Rangers came away from Coleshill United with a 3-2 win to strengthen their promotion chances.
Harwell International suffered their second successive defeat as they went down to a 2-1 defeat at Steventon. Faringdon Town are closing after a 2-1 win over Hanney United. Shrivenham Reserves' relegation problems are receding after another fine win, this time a 6-0 trashing of Harwell Village.
In the War Memorial Cup semi-final, Appleton (Abingdon) made it three Division Two scalps in the competition as they beat Botley United after extra-time.
