WITH reference to the letter from Vance Willis (Letters Page March 25) I completely agree with his sentiments.
A similar traffic calming scheme has recently been installed in St Pauls Drive, Covingham. The road narrowing bollards with priority arrows have been placed too close together. These bollards make it difficult for the residents of Gibbs Close to turn left; they are also situated very near a bus terminus.
Like Mr Willis, I do not believe the 20 mph limit will be adhered to and suspect the road narrowing priority bollards will cause collisions. If the council has enough money to finance these futile schemes, perhaps it could do something useful and erect noise barriers along the A419 road.
Many residents in our area have to keep windows shut to cut out the constant worsening loud drone of the traffic and, indeed, the noise can be heard throughout Covingham.
