Cricklade ground out a 17-0 victory over local rivals Fairford.
The game started at a slow pace with both sets of forwards trying to secure ball for the backs.
In the early exchanges Fairford looked the stronger with their backs making some quick running and only strong Cricklade tackles, kept them out.
Tthe Cricklade pack begin to dominate, winning the scrums and most of the lineouts.
Both teams began to make mistakes and from one of these the first chance of the game fell to Cricklade, but Lloyd missed the penalty.
Cricklade, now on top, forced Fairford into making more mistakes and in the final minute of the first half another penalty was converted by Lloyd to give Cricklade a 3-0 lead.
The second half started like the first, with both teams defending stoutly.
With Cricklade's forwards now on top, they began to attack. A mistake from a Fairford back allowed young centre Steve Gee to score under the posts for the opening try with Lloyd scoring the conversion to take it to 10-0.
Fairford made several changes and this seemed to fire them up as again only good defence kept them out.
From another fairford mistake prop Neil Bunce forced a gap for player-coach Jason Johnson to power over the line, beating off a couple of players to score after coming back from injury with Lloyd adding the conversion.
