THE University of Bath has appointed two respected academics to head its International Centre for the Environment.
The centre is described by the university as a focus for interdisciplinary environmental activities at the University of Bath in Swindon, based n Walcot, as well as the main Bath campus.
Professor Geoff Hammond, currently Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the university, is the new director.
Adrian Winnett, an economist in the department of economics and International Development, is deputy director.
The university, one of the country's most respected, recently announced plans to expand its operation in Swindon to include an 8,000-student campus near the Great Western Hospital at Commonhead by about the end of the decade. Professor Hammond said: "Adrian and I look forward to working with colleagues across the university in order to meet the environmental challenges of the 21st century.
"The vice-chancellor, Professor Glynis Breakwell, and the university executive are keen to see Bath at the forefront of activities aimed at achieving sustainable development."
