PATIENTS gathered for a special meeting at the threatened Marshfield Road Surgery run by Chippenham GP Barney Williams, who is in dispute with the Kennet and North Wiltshire Primary Care Trust over out-of-hours cover .
The Department of Health is to hold an inquiry to decide if his contract is to be ended. Dr Williams told the meeting: "The PCT agreed to go back to the out- of-hours co-operative to negotiate with them to look after my patients."
"They appeared to think they would have little joy but they have taken on board that it is their responsibility to negotiate with them."
The PCT has declined to comment on the issue.
