RACING: LAVERSTOCK & Ford have secured promotion from Division Two of the Hampshire League, but have a nailbiting wait until Saturday week to discover if they go up as champions.
Saturday's 3-0 away win at Ludger-shall Sports ensured they kept the pressure on closest challengers Overton United who also bagged another three points.
'Stock, who have been members of the Hampshire League for seven seasons, have now completed their fixtures and have a three point advantage over United, who have one more game to play. However, the Salisbury outfit have a far superior goal difference. It would take a win by a margin of ten goals against M&T Awbridge for Uni-ted to wrest the title from their grasp.
Laverstock's success was tinged with sadness this week at the sudden death of club president and treasurer Bob Hoskins.
