SHAREHOLDERS of housing company Sarsen have voted unanimously in favour of enabling it to become part of a new group of companies.
The new parent company is to be called the Silbury Group and will also include a charitable housing association and a commercial services company.
The vote follows consultation with Sarsen's residents, funders, shareholders, Kennet district council and other local authorities.
Chief executive Richard Kitson said: "Since Sarsen was formed in 1994 our business has diversified to include Sarsen Contracting, Cannings Hill Properties, Dauntsey Care, Lifeline, Kennet Care and Repair.
"At the same time our development programme for affordable new homes to rent has increased significantly and covers four counties in the south-west.
"Some of these initiatives were introduced to meet very real community needs and others have helped Sarsen to remain a financially stable and successful organisation."
He said there were significant benefits to the formation of the new group.
"It will enable Sarsen Housing Association to focus on its core business of delivering high standards of housing management and maintenance," he said.
