BADMINTON: TITLES have been claimed in all four main divisions of the District League, with Stonehenge Falcons, West Grimstead A, Burgate A and Coombe Bissett installed as the 2002-03 champions.
Stonehenge B have already taken the under 18s title, and there could be more for the club's teams in the men's and under 14s leagues, who are strongly placed with matches still to come.
Avonbridge's predictable retention of the Wessex Cup after their 9-0 whitewash of West Tytherley B in the first leg of the final was duly completed with a 7-2 victory in the return. Tytherley's John and Sue Lapham, and Ken Isaacs and Pat Barr-etto, salvaged consolation wins in the mixed rubbers.
West Grimstead A completed the season's only 100-per-cent record in the four divisions when ending their programme against their B team with their tenth successive win.
Grimstead B could yet take the second promotion spot, but a 7-2 win or better by Laverstock A against their own B team in the final fixture would put them up instead. A 7-2 win would put them exactly level on points and sets with Grim-stead B, but Laverstock won more sets in the matches between the teams.
Laverstock's A team in the Men's League finished their programme in top place with an eighth win from ten matches, but will be overtaken if Stonehenge win their two matches still to come.
