A LOCAL woman is desperately seeking a home where she can live with the dog from whom she has been separated for 18 months.
Kennet Action for Single Homeless in Devizes is backing the case of Mary Hughes who has not seen her six-year-old German Shepherd cross Suggs since she was evicted from her home in Pewsey for falling into rent arrears.
Mrs Hughes, 58, is currently living at Springers House in Devizes, run by the Shaftesbury Housing Association, where pets are not permitted. Suggs is being looked after by someone in Pewsey, but Mrs Hughes is being pressed to find a home where they can live together or lose the dog.
She said: "The woman wants to keep Suggs. I will have to make a decision as to what I want to do.
"I desperately want my dog back but until I can find a place where they allow pets, there is no way. The workers at KASH have been very good and they have tried to find somewhere else, but without success.
"I miss Suggs so much. I can't sleep and I can't eat. The idea that I might lose him is tearing me apart. I can't bear to part with him."
A spokesman for Ashley Homes said: "We have been doing all we can to find other suitable accommodation but have not been successful so far."
