Are you aware of the foul and noxious fumes that are billowing all over Matravers School in Westbury?
On the afternoon of Wednesday March 26 and as I write on the morning of March 27 we are having difficulty breathing outside.
Yesterday we staged a netball tournament at which my wife, who umpired, described the air quality as appalling. It is similar as I write at 9.45am.
The stench and fumes are of burning rubber which seems to point the finger at the cement works though I am not sure of this.
This air quality being imposed on our youngsters is nothing short of a scandal. I urge you to investigate and protest.

AS part of the important background information needed by your Primary Care Trust (health officials), they require that people write in the PCT, CCDC Department, Southgate House, Pans Lane, Devizes, with their specific complaints that they believe are caused by industrial or agricultural pollution. Send your letters to the Director of Public Health.
When they get your letter they can action other agencies (EA) to locate monitoring stations near you and other actions too, because they know of and can show the concerns of the people. To date, especially with a crisis in budget finances, they write off concerns because of a lack of data that they can do nothing about.
They approach national quangoes such as the National Air Quality Board for generalised comments but with a multi billion to industry hovering with lawyers, what are they going to say that is specific? You guessed it, nothing of relevance.
So it falls on you, the reader, to tell your PCT your health worries. If you do not, then we will get no help as has been given to the people of Rugby, Warwickshire.
MR D R LEVY,
Chapmanslade,
Westbury.
