CALNE community worker Sarah Elliott has set up a 'walking bus' which transports children into the centre of town and has helped boost the town's cinema project.
Mrs Elliott, 35, of Stokes Croft, started the pedestrian bus, consisting of children and parents, in February, so youngsters could go to the town hall to watch the latest movies.
Earlier this month, she took 13 children from Stokes Croft to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Mother-of-three Mrs Elliott, is a part-time neighbourhood worker for Barnardo's. She said her role is to try and find out what is available for people living in her local community, make them aware of it and help them access what is there.
"As we walked down to watch the film at the town hall, the adults and their children were chatting and mixing. There was a real sense of community spirit and that is something I want to build on," she said.
Mrs Elliott is part of a larger community development project set up in Calne by Barnardo's in partnership with other local agencies.
Project organiser Dr Owen Gill said: "Local communities have a real role in keeping children safe and in providing opportunities for development."
