CALNE'S Priestley Primary School brought in the pounds towards a special aid pack for disaster-hit areas across the globe when its crazy-hair day went off in style.
Children with hair gelled into Mohicans, tied into wacky bunches and dyed with mad colours and patterns swarmed into school on March 20.
The teaching staff also sported brightly coloured wigs and glittery antenna. This is part of a series of events organised by older pupils to raise money for an Aquabox, a filled aid parcel which, once empty, doubles as a water purifier. The school raised about £80 for contents like clothes and toiletries to fill the box.
Calne Rotary Club has appealed to schools to help fund the packing of the boxes, which contain purification tablets and a filter and convert into water purification units.
