Talk of strike action by Wiltshire firefighters during one of the most potentially dangerous wars this country has ever fought is nothing short of selfish.
The British Army soldiers are bravely putting their lives on the line in the Gulf while our fire controllers are moaning about a potential move to a new control centre in Devizes.
OK, so life goes on and we have to continue with normality while the extraordinary is going on in the Middle East, but the firefighters' actions will strike at the heart of British forces.
Army chiefs should be focused on war, not how many troops to sideline to cover the threat of fire strikes.
