THE winners of the Poems from the Bus Shelter competition have been announced.
In all 10 local poets were presented with a framed copy of their prize-winning poems at the Swindon Festival of Literature's Clive Brain Memorial Lecture last Friday.
Anne-Marie Birley, Sheila Burnett, Kathleen White, Tony Hillier, Pat Bell, Sid Walker, Annabel Banks and Sharron Evans all won a book voucher, along with their framed poem.
Sheila Burnett, 61, from Green Meadow, said: "I am thrilled to have won and have discovered what fun it is to write poetry."
Around 40 people, aged between 14 and 85, took part and penned poems about what Swindon has to offer as a town.
Swindon MP Julia Drown is behind the initiative, along with the Swindon Learning Partnership, which aims to display feelings about Swindon on bus shelters.
Jackie Crowther, family learning co-ordinator for the Swindon Learning Partnership, said: "I am absolutely delighted with the response.
"It was lovely to read such positive views about Swindon. We now need sponsorship to display the poems in bus shelters across the town."
