HUNDREDS of young hopefuls queued outside the Wyvern Theatre with the aim of securing a place in the 10th annual Summer Youth Project.
More than 350 youngsters converged on the theatre to audition for the musical Fame.
Among those taking part were 14-year-old friends Tristan Ambrose and Marius Pierson who travelled in from Brampton for the Bank Holiday Monday auditions.
Marius said: "I have been here once before to take part. The auditions are not too bad. You have to do a bit of singing on your own and with a group and also remember some dance steps."
His friend Tristan said: "I am looking forward to taking part. I am not a member of a group, but I am studying drama at school so that should help."
The show will be directed and choreographed by Pollyann Tanner, who has directed all of the youth projects at the theatre including last year's production of Guys and Dolls.
Project co-ordinator, Nicki Western, said: "Fame is such a fantastic show to celebrate our 10th anniversary of youth projects. We are all really looking forward to an exhilarating and unforgettable show. We want the memory of Fame to live forever."
This year's show runs from August 1-9, with tickets priced from £8.50.
