GOATACRE stormed into the third round of the National Village Championship after an astonishing burst of bowling.
Visitors Baydon were 83-5, chasing 259, when Rob Turner and Kevin Iles struck, clean bowling the last five batsmen for no runs in four overs.
Iles led the way, taking four wickets in five balls, including his first-ever hat-trick.
He finished with 4-1, with Turner taking 2-8, as Baydon were all out for 83, leaving Goatacre winners by 175 runs.
The home side had batted first on a pitch softened by heavy rain.
Baydon's opening pair bowled a tidy line and length and were rewarded when Stephen Gee played all round a straight one for five.
Rob Turner joined Curwood and the scoring rate began to increase, with Turner in particular being severe on anything pitched short until he was unluckily caught for 21 off a high full toss.
Curwood was caught at mid- on for 37 to leave Goatacre 80-3 from 15 overs.
Captain Peter Turner batted carefully, but was severe on anything off line and increased the scoring rate although both Kevin and Adam Iles went cheaply.
Turner went on to score 50 and Sam Parish (39) and John Wilkins (29) kept the momentum going with help from Ed Wilkins, who scored 14 on his competition debut.
In reply, a tight opening spell from Adam Iles was rewarded with an early wicket and with Peter Turner also striking, Baydon were in trouble at 20 -2.
Smith (24) and Maycock, whose 28 included two huge sixes, then batted well to take the score to 51 before Smith was caught behind off Curwood.
Rhan Heer took the next wicket, but it was the introduction of Turner and Iles that made all the difference as Baydon collapsed, leaving the previous champions successful with 18 overs to spare.
