THE British Safety Council will be handing out its National Safety Awards later this month.
Companies which have reduced workplace accidents and are committed to improving employee health and safety will be recognised.
David Ballard, director general of the British Safety Council, said: "The National Safety Awards is a pinnacle event for companies which are excelling in health and safety.
"This award is recognition for the investment companies make to protect their workforce by ensuring high standards in health and safety."
So far, seven companies from Wiltshire face the stringent awards panel which will ensure winners comply with the lower than average accident rate, good safety policies and safety plans and commitment to health and safety at the highest level.
Minister of state for work and pensions Nick Brown said: "Only by working together in partnership with the British Safety Council, other stakeholders, employers and employees will we be able to achieve our goals for health and safety and reduce the burden on employers and employees and in turn cut the 33 million working days currently lost through work-related ill-health and injury."
The awards ceremony will take place on May 16.
