FOOD service wholesale distributor 3663, which has a depot in Downton, has been named in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For a first for the food service industry.
Supported by the department of trade and industry, companies are listed on the basis of employee feedback on management, working conditions and working culture.
The businesses that took part this year ranged in size from 250 to more than 100,000 employees.
3663 supplies frozen, chilled and non-food goods to the hospitality industry from 33 distribution depots.
Heather Angus, 3663's senior human resources manager, said: "The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies award identifies 3663 as a first choice employer and we are absolutely delighted.
"It tells us that our training and development policy is right for our work force and popular with them."
Secretary of state for trade and industry Patricia Hewitt said: "Too often we talk down the strength and success of British business.
"We need to celebrate success more and this list does just that.
"It is an illustration of the achievement of our firms and the dedication of the people working in all sectors of the economy."
Fred Barnes, 3663's chief executive, said: "I am delighted so much hard work by so many people has been recognised this achievement belongs to everyone at 3663 and I congratulate them all."
