BANDS from as far away as Jamaica and Johannesburg will be entertaining the crowds at this year's World Music Bowl in Old Town.
Thanks to a link up with the University of Bath in Swindon, which has two more years to run, Swindon Council has been able to recruit some of the world's top international touring bands for the six concert summer music festival.
It kicks off on June 7 with The Soul Brothers bringing township jive from the streets of Johannesburg in South Africa.
They have been moving the hearts and feet of audiences for three decades and are recognised as one of the most influential township groups ever.
Jamaican roots reggae band Morgan Heritage have sold more than four million records and are at the cutting edge of modern reggae. They play the bowl on June 21.
Other concerts coming up later in the summer include salsa from Roberto Pla's Latin Ensemble, electronic folk from Scottish band Shooglenifty, Bhangra with DCS and Caribbean musicians SW Storm.
John Struthers, University of Bath's director of creative arts, said: "This is a wonderful initiative. We enjoyed a very successful season last year."
All of the concerts will take place in the Old Town Gardens outdoor music bowl, and feature a licensed bar and themed catering.
Tickets for each concert are £7.50 in advance and £9 on the night, with discounts available for families and groups of 10 plus. To book call Swindon 530328.
