RESIDENTS in Park Lane, Chippenham, say their lives are being made a misery because of inadequate road markings on the newly- resurfaced road.
Homeowner Karl Townsend, claims he and other residents have been forced to call the police on several occasions since the road-re-surfacing work was completed, to have illegally-parked cars towed away from the front of their homes.
"It's a nightmare," said Mr Townsend.
"The road has been re-surfaced well, but many of the double yellow lines still haven't been put back down, so people have been leaving their cars along the road, in some cases, directly in front of our driveways.
"I have called the Highways department on several occasions, asking when the road markings are to be put back down.
"You would think it would be common sense on drivers' part, not to park in front of people's driveways, but they don't appear to care.
"Now myself and other residents are having to call the police and have cars towed away just so we can get our cars out of our own driveways."
Self-employed electrician, John, Hibberd, said he lost more than two hours of business last week, when a car left outside his driveway stopped him from getting to work.
"I came out to go to work to find a car parked in front of my drive and no sign of the driver," said Mr Hibberd.
"It was very annoying and meant that I lost money through lost jobs.
"When the road was re-surfaced, I was told by the County Council that the lines would be sorted out, once and for all.
"But now we have no double yellow lines and drivers are seeing the road as an open invitation to park here."
Work began on re-surfacing Park Lane on April 28. The road was closed for the duration of the work and residents and business owners were unable to reach the front of their properties.
The re-surfacing work is now complete. A spokesman from Wiltshire County Council said there had been a delay in the yellow lines being put back down, but work is scheduled to start imminently.
