MALMESBURY Rugby Club's social secretary Alan Walker had a close shave for the first time in 27 years.
The great Alan the Hat Sponsored Shave raised £325 for the Malmesbury pitch improvement fund and left him with an uncharacteristic bare chin. Mr Walker said: "My face is a bit colder now."
The dance floor was cleared for the club's annual nosh and knees-up at the Tunnel Inn last Saturday when club member Justin King took the clippers to Mr Walker's whiskers.
Mr King said: "We asked a few ladies if they would do it but none of them would touch it. I was the least drunk and ended up doing it.
"I asked if he wanted me to use a cut-throat razor but he declined. It was fine, it only took ten minutes."
Mr Walker said: "They didn't cut me and I wasn't scared when it was done. They used my brother's clippers and they worked very well."
