SALISBURY'S Stuart Waite increased his lead in the Forest Edge Kart Club 250cc gearbox Championship when he finished second in all three heats and the final of the latest round of the contest held at Christchurch. Sunday's success means he now has a 40-point cushion over his nearest rival.
THREE of the area's top young golfers were in fine form at a blustery St Mellion, Cornwall, last week. Salisbury & South Wilts golfer Sam Elkins, 16, and Hamptworth's Matt Lawrence, 20, both shot 77 to finish second in their age groups and joint third overall. They each amassed 12 points for the order of merit in the prestigious Faldo Junior Series. Mere's Henrietta Brockway finished third in the girls section and picked up ten points in the order of merit. Next stop is St Pierre, Wales on Monday, May 12.
AMESBURY Bowls Club's Terry Spreadbury, Steve Mitchell, Mike Tyler and Mick Crook have been selected along with Wilton's Richard Hindley for trial matches being played by Wiltshire Bowls Association prior to their Middleton Cup campaign.
