PEWSEY Vale could receive a boost in their bid for Hellenic League Premier Division survival today if Yate Town are given the green light for promotion to the Dr Martens League.
Steve Wootton's side finished third from bottom of the Premier Division table, but the Hellenic League have yet to announce how many teams will be relegated this year.
Yate, who finished as runners-up, had their Lodge Road ground inspected by Dr Martens officials yesterday.
If they are granted promotion, the likelihood of the Hellenic League relegating three teams from the Premier Division would be slim.
Hellenic League secretary Brian King has hinted at a lifeline for Pewsey, who were only promoted from Division One West a year ago.
He said: "There is a good chance Pewsey will survive."
