LONG-serving vicar Paul Wilkinson is leaving his Potterne parish after almost 13 years.
Mr Wilkinson's time in Potterne has been the longest stint he has served in his ministry.
He is originally from Bradford and was a curate in Yorkshire before moving to his first post at a church in Shropshire.
He moved to Potterne in 1990 as vicar of St Mary's Church and Christ Church, in Worton and Marston.
He is leaving the parish in July to take up a post as priest in charge of St Peter's Church, Leckhampton, in Gloucestershire.
Mr Wilkinson, 52, and his wife, Jean, a part time teacher, said they will be sad to leave Wiltshire.
He said: "We have enjoyed living in Wiltshire and meeting people in the locality. Potterne and the surrounding area has been a very friendly place.
"I have enjoyed village life and sharing in the lives and experiences of local people over the years.
"People in the village have been surprised to hear we are leaving and a number of people have expressed regret which is very pleasant.
"But I do think that not only do I need a new challenge but it's right for the churches to have somebody new take the churches into the future."
