WILTSHIRE St John Ambulance has put its headquarters in Devizes up for sale as it searches for bigger premises.
St John House at 15 High Street, Devizes, is on the market for £275,000.
Prospective buyers have been looking around the building, originally a coaching inn.
St John Ambulance wants to remain in Devizes and is looking for suitable sites. St John House comprises 3,098 square feet but the charity needs about 4,000 square feet.
The big drawback with the existing premises is it does not have garage space for ambulances. St John ambulances are kept at a variety of premises and the charity would like garage space to house at least two.
Anna Farquhar, the chief executive officer at Wiltshire St John Ambulance, said: "We have unfortunately outgrown our space. We would like to stay in Devizes but need about 4,000 square feet of accommodation to meet all our office, training and ambulance garaging needs."
Twelve people work at St John Ambulance headquarters although it is used by many more, particularly when training courses or competitions are held there.
St John Ambulance bought the 17th century building in 1987 and before then was based in Endless Street, Salisbury.
Anyone who knows of suitable accommodation for St John Ambulance should call Ms Farquhar on (01380) 728362.
