DURRINGTON schoolgirl Rebecca Paul will have her first taste of fame this Saturday when she appears on ITV's Stars in Their Eyes, Kids.
Taking on the persona of Canadian singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette, she will perform the chart-topping hit Hand In My Pocket.
Rebecca (16) sang live to an audience of about 200 people in Manchester, where the show was filmed, in April, alongside four other hopefuls.
Only one of them made it to the final - but was it Rebecca? All will be revealed in the national broadcast on ITV at 6.15pm on Saturday.
Rebecca's mother, Karen Phillips, who accompanied Rebecca to the event, said: "I was biting my nails all the way through.
"The atmosphere there was electric. It was absolutely fantastic.
"The standard of the contestants was very high, especially when you consider that most of them are so young, and the competition was so tough."
Rebecca, a pupil at Upper Avon School, hopes to go to college to study a BTec in Performing Arts.
Mrs Phillips said: "She's always loved being on stage.
"Although she wouldn't turn down the opportunity of being a singer, she does love acting, too."
