MARLBOROUGH'S long awaited business park is a step nearer reality following the submission of a planning application.
Marlborough Business Park Ltd has applied to Kennet District Council for planning consent for a new roundabout on Salisbury road and the link road into the site on the eastern side of the Marlborough-Burbage road.
Joint selling agents Carter Jonas and Dreweatt Neate have said it is to soon to name the company behind the business park plans.
A joint spokesman for the agents, who are selling the land on behalf of the Crown Estate, said the sale was still conditional upon planning consent being granted for the detailed development of the site.
It is already earmarked in the local plan as an employment site but detailed plans for the eventual buildings will still have to be approved.
The application submitted by London architects Scott Browning and Turner also includes earthworks and landscaping at the entrance to the site.
The search for a suitable employment site has been going on for 30 years.
