FIFTEEN animal charities who shared an event in Marlborough on Saturday will all benefit from a record profit of £1,500.
It was the third Animal Charities Fair to be organised by Diana Ridgley and Sharon Smith who are next-door neighbours in Baywater, Marlborough.
Mrs Ridgley said: "We both love animals but we are not in a position to do any rescue work ourselves."
They hit upon the idea of the fair in the town hall to benefit a number of animal charities. On Saturday charities ranging from the RSPCA to the Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital ran stalls.
With donations made at the door and the proceeds from a raffle, the charities were thrilled with the amount raised.
In a joint thank-you Mrs Smith and Mrs Ridgley said: "This is a record amount and the money will be used to help those animals who so badly need our help to provide food, shelter and caring homes."
Mrs Ridgley said: "There was a steady flow of people throughout the day."
