MEDICS at Swindon's Great Western Hospital could be among the first to pioneer the latest in training dummies.
Unlike traditional resuscitation dummies, the £22,000 advanced training simulator, Sim Man, can be used for resuscitation training as well as more advanced clinical skills.
These could involve scenarios such as major injuries, emergency airway management and other standard medical procedures.
Resuscitation officer Jonathan Taylor said: "The Sim Man will enable us to provide more realistic interactive scenarios for our nurses and doctors and allow them to practise skills in a safe and controlled environment. The more practice they have with these procedures, the more confident they become.
Mr Taylor and fellow resuscitation officer Terri Thompson are hoping to secure the funding for the new equipment from Swindon and Marlborough NHS Trust.
They hope to have the new equipment by June 1.
