I have been in the Merchant Navy for a long time and I get used to things changing in Chippenham while I am away.
But, having just returned from five months in the Gulf, I was travelling by motorbike down the Causeway into town at 10pm and was blinded by a car coming towards me.
At that split second a shape appeared in front of me which made me brake hard.
It was an unlit traffic calming island. Further down there were more, and no white lines in the middle of the road.
What is going on? The road traffic department should be filling in the potholes that seem to be everywhere with more appearing every time I come home instead of wasting money like that.
While the Causeway can be a bit of a rat race it does not need traffic calming schemes which are supposed to make the road safer. It also does not justify my council tax going up.
