YOU point out (EA May 3) that readers can air their views on the Wiltshire and Swindon Structure Plan (also Swindon Local Plan) to 2016.
What notice will the planning authorities take of the voice of ordinary citizens?
From past experience it seems that the interests of big business always holds sway.
For example when plans were being drawn up for the new Great Western Hospital, twice as many people supported the siting on a brownfield site in the town rather than destroy yet more green countryside.
Again despite the highly articulate Front Garden Action Group development on the Front Garden between Old Town and the M4 seems highly likely (flood plain and all).
Comment as much as you like but the reduction of the existing Rural Buffer Zone looks to be pretty certain unless there is a major change in thinking by those responsible.
