CHILDREN from Lacock School were transformed into fairies, kings and policemen as part of their May fair at the weekend.
The youngsters all came along in fancy dress to enjoy the celebrations, which raised over £600 for the school.
Headteacher Sue Worringham said: "It went really well. We started off outside but got rained off in the afternoon and had to make a dash inside."
The main focus of the fair, organised by the Friends of Lacock School, was plants, with Wiltshire College at Lackham and local garden centres donating produce to be sold off. There were also stalls and tombolas and the school's country dancing club gave a very well-received display.
The school has been raising money for a play area but the £800 target has already been met and the funds will probably now go towards sports equipment.
The most successful fundraising idea has been the Scarecrow Trail, which raised £2,000.
Children and their families made scarecrows based on nursery rhymes, these were then placed around the village so tourists could then follow the trail.
The next event being planned is a duck race to be held in June.
