A 21-year-old woman from Chippenham badly broke her leg when she was involved in a crash on her motorbike on a country lane on Wednesday night.
The accident happened at 8.25pm, near the motorway services at Leigh Delamere on the M4.
The woman was leaving the services via a back road on her 125CC Suzuki motorbike, when she collided with a Mazda sports car being driven by a 42-year-old woman from Hullavington.
The two vehicles collided at the junction of two unclassified roads between the villages of Kington St Michael and Stanton St Quintin.
The motorcyclist was taken by air ambulance to Great Western hospital in Swindon. The driver of the Mazda suffered shock and was treated at the scene.
The road remained closed for about four hours while police conducted an investigation at the scene and cleared the vehicles from the road.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may be able to help them with their investigation to contact PC Mark Finister on (01249) 716564.
