VENGEFUL teenager Peter Cooper punched a 46-year-old man in the face in a case of mistaken identity.
Cooper, 19, threw a punch at Christian Scheding after a row over a pool table.
Mr Scheding suffered cuts to his right cheek and nose and a chunk was missing from his lip after he was knocked to the floor, close to the Rose and Crown pub in East Street, Warminster.
Prosecutor Michelle Hewitt said Mr Scheding was up from Cornwall visiting friends and had spent the evening of March 17 playing pool in the pub.
Cooper was also there with his friends when an argument broke out over the use of a pool table.
Mrs Hewitt said at closing time Mr Scheding's group walked out of the pub to get a taxi.
A scuffle broke out with members of the rival groups which ended in Cooper marching up and throwing a blow at Mr Scheding who he believed had punched him in the pub earlier on.
Mr Scheding was treated at Warminster Hospital casualty department for his injuries.
Edward Moore, defending, said his client felt angered at being hit earlier on in the night but took it out on the wrong man.
Cooper, of Westleigh, admitted common assault at Trowbridge Magistrates' Court on Thursday. He was ordered to pay £350 compensation and received an 18-month community rehabilitation order.
