Although stronger winds made fishing more difficult in many areas Chew Valley is still fishing well with plenty of fish feeding in most places. However, this is still mainly near the shore.
Nymph fishing predominates with Diawl Bachs, Buzzers, PTN and Damsels proving the most successful.
At Blagdon, boat anglers still dominate the returns and John Hannis took a brown trout of 5lb 7oz fishing from a boat.
Chew produced a total catch last week of 1,060 fish averaging 2lb 3oz topped by a brown of 7lb 13oz and rainbow 5lb 9oz and 60 limit bags. At Blagdon 831 fish averaging 2lb 2oz were recorded topped by a brown of 5lb 7oz and rainbow 5lb 1oz and 45 limit bags.
The Barrows yielded 319 fish averaging 1lb 9oz topped by a brown of 3lb 4oz and rainbow 3lb 6oz.
Trout fishermen are also still enjoying good sport on the Wessex Water reservoirs. Clatworthy is in good form with trout being caught on the surface down in the bay on black buzzers.
Top bag of the week here was a 15lb 1oz bag taken by Mike Smith.
At Hawkridge, 145 fish were taken with David Palmer taking a five fish limit of 12 lb 6oz topped by a 4lb 6oz rainbow.
There was little to choose between the top three competitors in the Ivy House Open match. Top spot went to Mick Gale of Devizes with a carp catch of 27lb 4oz taken on pole fished red maggots on an 18 hook. Runner-up was Mike O'Brien of Cotswold Angling with another carp catch 26lb 12oz taken on pole fished sweetcorn on a 16 hook.
Landsend Fisheries hosted the mid week Open match when competitors enjoyed excellent sport with carp from the match and specimen lakes.
Angling Images matchman Brian Gay hit the magical ton with an all carp catch weighing 109lb 2oz taken on pole fished pellets on a 14 hook. Runner up prize went to Cross Hands matchman Nigel sanders who also topped the ton with a carp catch weighing 106lb 2oz taken on pole fished cat meat on a 12 hook.
The Wilts Angling Open match fished at Hordle Lakes produced mixed sport.
Top honours went to Bradford's Ian Willetts with an all carp catch weighing 44lb 7oz taken alternating with pole fished pellets and sweetcorn on a 14 hook. Runner-up was Trowbridge's Martin Barrett with a mixed catch of carp and roach weighing 27lb 14oz taken on pole fished red maggots on an 18 hook. He was followed by Pete Neate of Holt with an all carp catch weighing 24lb 0oz taken on pole fished sweetcorn on a 14 hook.
Competitors in the Wilts Angling Open match at Viaduct Fishery enjoyed good sport on Sunday with carp again feeding well. Bradford's Ian Willetts chalked up his second win of the week with an all carp catch weighing 77lb 1oz taken on pole fished cat meat on a 12 hook.
Trowbridge matchman Mick Gunning took second prize with another carp catch weighing 75lb 1oz taken on legered cat meat on a 12 hook.
Melksham's Glen Wicheard clinched third prize with yet another all carp catch weighing 70lb 9oz taken on pole fished cat meat on a 12 hook. Other placings: 4 Graham Potter Trowbridge 55lb 0oz; 5 Steve Gardner Chippenham 53lb 13oz; 6 Gary Dallimore Frome 51lb 10oz.
